I never heard of this blog about Disney called Disney Dining, but they published a post titled Disney Reportedly in Talks to Acquire “Harry Potter” from Warner Bros. Entertainment.

I do not think it's true at all - probably pure clickbait, but I'd like to know your opinion about this hypotetical deal. Would you be OK with this idea?

I personally think I'd shut down The Rowling Library if that ever happens.  Big Grin

The article mentions it's "satirical" at the end, so I don't believe it, but it's a fun thought exercise.

On the one hand, there's no way Disney could be worse than Warner Bros, so I'd be happy if it happened. On the other hand, this fake deal makes it sound like Disney would buy the full rights from WB and Jo - and that'd be bad, because Jo still exercises some control and restraint with the brand (though less with every year). Disney would go hogwild and overdo it with HP, just like they did with Marvel.

So I'm thrilled if Disney just buys WB's rights, but devastated if they also buy Jo's to claim full control. (I also don't think Jo would sell her rights, even for the nigh infinite sum that Disney would offer.)

I think the "satirical" clarification was added after I read it, haha.

I can't imagine a scenario where Disney would buy only WB's rights, I think Disney (for what has shown in the past) would want full control of the franchise. And there I agree with you - that'd be bad.
