The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on Tuesday unveiled its shortlists for the 2023 Oscars in 10 categories. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore was shortlisted for VFX, alongside Avatar: The Way of Water and eight additional movies, including Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Top Gun: Maverick. Nominations will be announced on January 25th (only 5 out of 10 will be part of the nominees).
The big favourite is Avatar: The Way of Water.
Although none of the original Harry Potter movies won an Oscar, Fantastic Beasts and where to find them broke that dry run, winning an Oscar for Best Costume Design. By the way, we interviewed Colleen Atwood (who received the award) in our magazine #28, you can read it here!
