"Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the world first introduced in the Harry Potter books. For the first time, experience Hogwarts in the 1800s. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart. Now you can take control of the action and be at the center of your own adventure in the wizarding world. Your legacy is what you make of it."

Hogwarts Legacy Official Website.

Hogwarts Legacy is the open-world RPG that Harry Potter fans have been waiting for years. They promise that we'll be able to freely walk around Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest and "the surrounding overland area", as a Hogwarts student in the 1800.
The game will be released on February 10th, 2023, for PC, Xbox, PS4 and PS5 (the Nintendo Switch release date is still unknown).
The idea of this post is to discuss the game pre-release. Below you'll find some questions to trigger discussion:
  • Are you looking forward to it? Will you buy it?
  • How will you play it? PC? Playstation? Nintendo Switch?
  • Do you expect it to respect the canon? Will it expand the Wizarding World lore?
  • Do you think we will see some Harry Potter characters?
  • Are you afraid that this game will end up being a new Cyberpunk 2077?

  • Pre-order here

  • Gameplay Showcase (Youtube Video)

I also fully recommend this video by WolfHeartFPS, where he reviews the available footage and makes some guesses regarding the game: "Hogwarts Legacy May Be Much "Bigger" Than You Think.. ?"

What do you guys think?
"Things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end, if not always in the way we expect."

I'm looking forward to the game. I think it could be very good, and what we always hope for, but at the same time it runs the risk of disappointing us if we have very high expectations.

In particular, I have two very personal opinions: first, I am more interested in exploring the locations than in the story itself. And second, I'm not going to take it as canon. I think I'll enjoy it more if I experience it in a relaxed way than if I try to see if every detail fits the established canon or if it contradicts something. It's not worth it in my opinion.

Definitely agree with exploring the locations being more exciting than the story itself.
I think they mentioned a 'story mode', which I might go for honestly. Less focusing about strengthening your character, more focusing about walking around Hogwarts haha.

They just confirmed that Simon Pegg is the voice of Phineas Nigellus Black, the Headmaster of Hogwarts - wooooooow! This is the first confirmed character that is already part of the Harry Potter lore. If you don't remember, he had a role in the Harry Potter books (helping Harry Potter through his portrait in the Headmaster Office).

Here is a video of Simon Pegg talking about this new role: https://twitter.com/HogwartsLegacy/statu...0470361089

Leslie Nicol is the voice of Professor Matilda... Weasley - wow!

For me, she is definitely related to the Weasleys! Maybe she's a distant aunt, or maybe she's Arthur Weasley's grandmother? I don't think it's the latter case, because we would have known, but it's interesting!

Do you think Hogwarts Legacy could have a sequel? I think it's highly likely as it is the best selling game on Steam and Amazon even before it's release.

I don't know if a direct sequel to the videogame or a similar game in the Wizarding World. It would be hard to make a sequel since you create the main character and the story will be different for every player. At which point of the story would the 2nd game start, if the first one ended differently for everyone?

But it would be possible, yeah!

I agree that a direct sequel might not be possible but maybe everyone's ending will be the same no matter the route. However, Hogwarts Legacy could be a franchise with games set in different time periods.
